Hello! I’m Sarah DeLong, an American-Canadian voice actor based in Salt Lake City. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and the Midwest and am a mom, podcaster, nerd and foodie.
I’m known for my Mom Teacher Friend mid-range voice and general American accent. Sort of a blend of Kristen Bell and Anne Hathaway.
In my professional home studio I record remotely with my Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid Condenser, PreSonus AudioBox USB96 Interface and CalDigit TS4 Thunderbolt Dock.
My commercial and narration demos reflect my past careers and passions. Being a mom, teaching children, exploring national forests and coastlines, neuroscience-informed yoga, supporting mental health, chill and explorative vacations, home maintenance and cooking.
My voiceover training began with Such A Voice, and I continue to learn in workshops, mock auditions and improv classes. Some of those classes include: Un-Announcer Yourself with D'Arcy Webb (2025), Choices Not Voices with Claudine Ohayon (2025), TIMPROV Finding Authenticity Through Improv with Tim Powers (2026), and Private Coaching with Pamela Muldoon.
I share personal creations on my YouTube channel which I affectionately call my “laboratory kitchen greenhouse.” There, you can listen to a FanX presentation I gave about cozy sci-fi and Star Trek captains. I also host a cozy reflective podcast, Steeped in Storytelling, exploring connections between story, science and sound.

Q: Why should I hire a voice actor?
A: Because we’re trained to read aloud! We’ve studied with veteran performers to adjust our tone, pace and emotion to match the moment and the audience.
Q: How do I hire a voice actor?
A: First, write a script for your project. Second, know your budget and how long you want to use the audio. (You can check the handy online GVAA Rate Guide if you’re unsure.) Third, find actors to audition; you can contract a casting company, post on a casting website, or negotiate directly with an actor. Fourth, negotiate and sign a contract that is fair to both businesses.
Q: What happens next?
A: Once we have a script and a contract, we can connect remotely for a live directed session or I can asynchronously direct myself. A live directed session means we connect on a remote call and record audio in that session. Asynchronous direction means I record on my own with all the notes you’ve given me. You check the audio, and we negotiate any “pick-ups” or slight word changes.
Q: What if I want to change the script?
A: If they’re small changes, like “pick-ups,” that’s usually covered in the original contract. If it’s a whole rewrite, we’ll negotiate a new contract and record the new script.
Q: Who do you usually work with?
A: Casting teams, sound engineers and directors. When working directly with smaller businesses, I usually collaborate with writers, marketing teams and creative directors.
